I'm sure that you have seen it, but the Craftbook plugin adds lots of brilliant mechanics to a vanilla minecraft server.
It would take a bit of work to setup so that no game breaking parts are allowed, but most of it add fun and interesting aspects that don't break anything.
Hidden switches, Gates, bridges. doors, lifts minecart mechanics to name but a few.
Some of what is added in Craftbook has already been added in Runecraft, and each option would have to be looked at for its own merits.
For example
Teleports should be Runecraft.
Bridges should be Craftbook.
Craftbook would allow us to make simple machines, and would also allow us to add custom crafting recipies.
For example,
we could set to to allow us to craft cracked stone brick by smelting Stone Brick.
Just a few ideas.
