Town Building Questions

What an exciting day! I have claimed my townsite and am drawing up blueprints. :) I will prolly have lots of questions. Here is the first one:

Can I set the spawn point of my town or is it pre-determined? How do I set it or alternately, find out the co-ordinates people will spawn at when they teleport? I'd hate to place a lava pool there.

Thanks!

I found a list of Towny commands. That's the plugin we are using, isn't it?
Will /town spawn work to set the spawn point?

I know you have to change the homeblock of the town, which is the first chunk that is claimed by the town. i believe the cmd is /town set homeblock however I'm not currently online and able to check this, (since I've moved the town spawn in my town to 3 different locations now.) and then to change the spawn you need to do /town set spawn which needs to be in the same chunk as the homenlock. Wherever you set the town spawn will be set to wherever you are currently standing, so dont stand over any lava pools. haha. there is a towny command wiki on google. Here's the link http://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/towny/wiki/Commands
Sorry if its not hyperlink, only so much you can do on a iPad. It's fairly simple tells you of everything you can do in the town. I sure hope this helps :) if you ever have any questions be sure to ask. :) idk if we have formally met either, so hello my name is Atlas. I'm the mayor of Elysium :)

Thank you for your response, Atlas, and it's nice to meet you. :) I wouldn't have thought of changing the homeblock first...will try that once I decide exactly where spawn should be. I laughed about you changing yours 3 times, sounds like me...haha. One thing I have learned in singleplayer is plan first, then build, and if you're not sure about something, change it now, not later! I have brought my hubby on board to help me, his handle is Bobzurunkl- you;ll be seeing him around. Good luck with your town building! Would love a tour when you are done or should I say when phase one is done...are we ever really done??? Cheers.
