Yup, the ocean left sealife fossils and then there are the dinosaur fossils...total graveyard around here. The black coal is the whole reason this valley was developed, and the red patches are the remains of burnt piles of coal slag that they would shovel out of the mines. There are at least 10 or 12 mine sites between here and the main town...that's where much of the rusty old junk is from. Every time it rains more washes down the hills. The white clay is bentonite...highly prized for beauty treatments since ancient times. I haven't tried a natural mud mask yet, but I might!
