Hi Gamerfriendz! I am pretty excited this week. I have always enjoyed photography, but I started getting really serious about it 3 years ago when we moved to the Canadian Badlands. I just finished hanging my very first exhibit at a local B&B and I'm pleased with how it turned out. Thought I'd share the images here for a bit of entertainment while the server is down...hope you all enjoy!

Thanks for the comments...90% of these are taken within 10 minutes of our home, including the ones you mentioned....the others are within 30 min. drive. The tall grass one is what I am using for my promo poster...who knew ditch weeds could look so purty eh?

The old bridge, according to the old timers here, is the last wooden box girder bridge in Canada...2 blocks away! Several groups have tried to get it restored but the people who give out historic preservation grants don't seem to give a damn about it. :(

Haha, we were lucky, Bacon...Calgary got nailed but our valley haz a magic bubble over it that prevents the worst of it from reaching us. Drizzly and grey but NO snow on the ground. Which is awesome, because our little village is having it's annual folk music festival here today, which is a big deal! Lots of our friends from town dropping in for coffee, as we are 1/2 block from the festival site...nice to have a bonfire going for them to stand around. Just put a big pot of chili on the stove for when everyone pops by for dinner...a perfect Saturday, feels like summer is finally really beginning! Sorry 'bout Calgreeee tho! ;)

u weren't kidding when u said the colored clay biome looks like your home...
Just WOW.

That passiflora ( u call it passion flower?) .... grows wild around?

Whats that high wooden building? Strange width/height ratio.... my brains doesn't wanna tell what that was for....
Got more photos of old things laying around?

Yes! Now you finally get to see what I mean. :)

Much too cold here for the lovely passion flower to grow wild. I started 95% of my plants from seeds last year, but not that one! I got the plant from the nursery, and it spent all summer pouring out beautiful blossoms for us. I don't know if it will re-grow, but I hope so.

DAT is a grain elevator, my friend. They used to be all along the rail lines on the prairies and would store the grain until the trains came to carry it away to the big cities. They are slowly disappearing, most of the tracks they used to serve abandoned and decrepit.

I am accumulating a very impressive collection of rusty old junk, Moon! There were once coal mines all up and down this valley and various bits of industrial leftovers come up from the bentonite clay every time it rains. I have quite a few pictures of this collection- I will dig some out and post them for you!

Hope you are having a good weekend.

You know what the worst part is? It was just like that on Thursday; sunny, warm, and not a cloud in the sky.

Yes! Exactly what I was going to say! And the forecast promised it would continue like that all weekend. Well, it actually turned out ok for us though...our plans got altered but in a good way and we had some nice visits with friends who came and went all day and stayed warm and cozy :)
