Hey gang! I would be very gratified if you could give me your feedback on a personal/business matter...

So this local film producer is looking for a social media person and wants me to interview for the job. He invited me to a brainstorming/informational session scheduled for tomorrow, but then this morning he sends me an email requesting that I bring my cv along with me. He also sent an article to 'test' my knowledge which I am copy/pasting (I tried to attach it but there is something fishy about the file even when I re-saved it in different formats and my system won't recognize it), with a request that I respond and let him know if I 'understand' the article. You can see for yourselves the quality of the writing and information it contains.

So what I want to know is....what do you think? Should I give this guy the time of day? I am personally thinking that he is gonna be one of those bosses that is impossible to work with because they are too effing clueless to explain anything to. But I'd like to check my gut reaction and I really trust you guys to give me your honest opinion. Thanks! :)

If you think you can handle the work and devote the amount of time he requires, I say go for it! If you don't like or it does not work out, you can always leave :)

hahaha ok a few hours and emails later and I have a lot more info on this guy's character and I am OUT! Thanks a lot for taking the time to read...if I'd known more then I would not have wasted your time. ;) But posting here helped me think about this decision and define my terms, so thx!

Heya Moonie :) Well, it was attached to an email he sent as a docx file, but when I downloaded it, it wouldn't show up in my downloads folder. I opened it from the download history and saved it as a word document and it still wouldn't show up. I decided not to bother wasting anymore time trying to figure it out. My gut is telling me to run the hell in the opposite direction lol. I feel like this guy is trying to manipulate Bobz and I and his story changes every time we talk to him. You see...we hold the domain name he NEEDS and we have signed an agreement to sell it to him, which I am arranging. He also thinks we have registered the trade name he wants, even though we told him we do not hold the registration. I dunno if he thinks we are lying or what but he keeps making promises of all the big $$$ we are all going to make together and the whole thing is just sounding more and more uncertain. Maybe he just wants to keep us on the hook until the business name issue is all sorted out to his satisfaction then all his promises are going to turn out to be hot air. I'm going to try to leave the door open for consulting or contract work in the future possibly. Thanks for listening, man I hate these decisions! I don't want to think badly of people or miss opportunities but this just don't feel right for us.

ooo domain name :D
docx is like a compressed doc format or something... for office.
i dont think u can't just save it as a word document, u need to convert it with a microsoft app.
Google docx conversion doc.

Why it doesnt show... i'm not sure... maybe the pc thinks it's a system file.
So u can try to set show hidden files under "folder options" in control panel. (assuming u got win 7)
So at least u can try to eliminate the file.

DOCX is actually an XML-based Word Document that is a propitiatory format used by the Microsoft office suite.

As for the file not showing up it's likely a virus, keylogger, trojan, or other malware since it appears to "delete itself". I would suggest you scan your system as that's not normal behavior for an XML document of any sort.. he might be stealing your passwords with a keylogger or other malware so I would be careful.

Found and deleted! Thanks so much my friends for your advice and for watching my back. :) Looks like Office decided where to file my download for me, rather than routing it to my downloads folder. I find Office 'helpful' like that. ;) Nevertheless it was time for a scan anyways and everything is looking good. Bobz takes care of that part of the network management and so far we have been pretty lucky (knocking wood). The guy that sent me the file is definitely not savvy enough to intentionally send me a virus lol but that doesn't mean he wouldn't do it unknowingly. Gonna run a full c-cleaner as well, prolly need it badly anyways since I can't remember when I did it last!

Update on the whole idea of doing business with this person...contract or otherwise....it's a no-go. One thing I can say about experience...it makes it much clearer to me what I don't want to do lol.

You don't have to be tech savvy to send one... you just need to Google and possibly buy access to one so...

Also, good luck and hope it all works out

hmm well that's good to know thx!

I'm getting excited about re-branding our art studio actually! New name, new website etc etc hey we gonna need new promo merch! T-shirts for all :) Got a name or two shortlisted, gotta check if they are registered already and all that before going forward though. Got a positive vibe going...will keep ya posted. Next RLshow to go up is Bobz's art show, mostly acrylic landscape paintings with a few other things and also some of my photos. It will be at the big public gallery here in the new community facility. Gotta catch up with the online promos...my photo show is hanging with NO online promotion right now and not even a poster at the grocery store....yeesh. But hey! Long weekend here in Canada....back to all that in a day or two. :)
