General update (4/2)

Thought it'd be time for an update with a few topics.

Worlds and clusters
First off - a big disaster! Our mining world is missing a clay biome, oh lord!
As it is a very useful building material and the absence of one is horrible - what would you prefer to see?
A premature reset of it, or to wait it out until... well a real restart?

Also, I'm missing a creative world every now and then. I occasionally use a single player world but I miss being able to interact with the rest of ya'll while testing out my contraptions and building styles. Would a creative world be of interest for you?
Which then brings me to the next thing, clustering the server.

I'd love to see it divided between multiple smaller servers, both as it improves performance vastly as well as simplifies maintenance.
A hot-fix or update would basically just mean that one world would be down at a time instead of the whole server.
You'd still be able to gather materials in mine while the main world would be inaccessible and vice versa.
Give it a thought!

Current staff
While I'm happy with the current setup a few US players are needed.
The two new moderators will be General_Bacon as well as Timanetor and promoted soon.
I understand that many would love a shot at moderating but I have to give it to people that I'm certain are familiar with the current setup and what might be ahead.
There are a lot of lovable and well-informed players and I'd love to give you all a shot at it - but that would be odd, a server full of staff.
The guide program is as of right now not needed, but will be resumed as soon as we gain some more new faces.
And that! That takes me to the next topic.

Server posts
You've all noticed that the voting's now working (still awaiting someone to hit the absolute jackpot), and the votes are raining in.
Lovely! Even though some of you might be voting for more selfish reasons, but hey - I still love ya'll. ;)
Basically, the post at Planet Minecraft as well as Minestatus bring us attention by doing just that - voting.
Of course a nice comment helps but it's not as important as this post at Minecraft Forums.

It's a great place to find the older players but it's important to get the post to the top, simply by posting something.
As a creator - bumping it would lead to a thread removal.
But I can't stop people from leaving a nice (but honest!) review or ask some silly questions can I? ;)

It is possible to post an application via that thread, much like we had at Technic Forums - but as we're not often on the top, not many are seeing us.
Basically, if you'd like to see some new faces and help me out a bit - write something!

That's it for me yaaaaaaaa'll, enjoy and happy building (straight to bed after a nightmarish 14½h work-day for me!)!
Hope to see you ingame soon. :)

For the first topic on here: I think we should just wait for a resource reset. Clay biomes are meant to be scarce, and it really makes the clay worthwhile. Also, I love the idea of a creative world, it'd be a little risky, with redstone and lag and such, but it'd be a nice addition.

For the server posts section: I'm very glad to see that you've posted links to the other sites that we "advertise" on. It gives me a chance to show some loyalty to the community here! Thank you for typing up a long post like this while you're tired too! ha...

I do not see what harm a total mine world reset would do, though I am concerned with the multi-server. Does that mean one server will always be down? Or will it have a regular reset pattern?

On the matter of resets I notice they are messing with Runecraft portals. That being said I believe adding a 3rd home (or making the spawn a players bed which also may be set as a spawn simply by laying in it) would be a good option for aiding with transport between the mine, home and nether worlds.

I know that was a bit off topic but I felt it was important.

First, I feel we should wait until the next reset for mine world. Maybe that is just because i'm not currently using clay but xRetna is right; they are supposed to be rarish. In the case of the creative world I think that idea would be fine along with the multiple smaller servers idea. As long as the creative world doesn't impact me via lag I am fine. Nothing else really to say here.

Brilliant stuff Knas-era. One thing slightly off topic: Possibly putting a bit more emphasis on keeping the language clean in the rules. While we don't really cater to the younger folk, we have Twinnie and the gang. A clean chat would keep the server enjoyable for all and lessen the moronic clutter from interfering with actual conversations! :3

And yes,
I see the irony in wanting a clean chat with a gif about a man question a poop rat, but its censored. :)

Well, in response to that, Morbid Sally, I've raised that concern to Twinnie and she says it honestly isn't an issue. Rules or not, most people on the server are pretty considerate in instances like that. And anyone who refuses to be polite in those situations can't be trusted to be mature enough for the server anyways.

Back on topic, I too think we should wait for a natural reset. I would also throw my name in the pot for Guide, if that title were to return, but for the next while, my involvement in Anembra will be much more scarce due to school picking up.

And I'm all for a creative world! I too find that I need with redstone testing, so hosting it elsewhere may be beneficial? Up to you! Good stuff so far!

I'm all for resetting the resource world, and protecting the spawn point somehow would be my only request. Jumping over the creeper holes while trying to duck witch potions was a nightmare, skele snipers is a big enough headache to begin with.

Hey gang :)

I really can't tell you how much I appreciate the consideration everyone is showing my kidlets and our family in general. (And thank you for your above post, sally...I have a lot of admiration for those who seek to protect others from harm, it's an awesome instinct!) It is hard to find a server where we "fit" and everyone has been sooooo accommodating!

I didn't join the server intending to bring my kids aboard but when the chance was offered and I was told that age exceptions had been made in the past for family members, I most gratefully accepted. Bobz and the kids couldn't help but notice that I was having a very positive experience with the server and naturally they were interested.

Having said that, I recognized that our presence could be considered stifling to the social atmosphere by some and I am trying very hard to emphasize that we do not expect the server to change to suit us. The kids are never online without us around and we try to make sure we are monitoring the chat not just to protect them but to be sure they are acting appropriately. We try to sign in before they do to get a feel for the mood at that time. I'm not that bothered if they see a swear word or two, simply because that is no different than what they hear in the world in general. (But obviously I'm not encouraging anyone to teach them new vocabulary in that department! lol) They know what most of those words mean and think they are horrible and don't use them. For the record, they have heard plenty of them from their own parents, which has given us the opportunity to discuss appropriate use!

As for lewdness etc, obviously if I see the banter going that way I ask them to sign off for a break, which they have no problem with. They understand that they are guests and must politely withdraw when their presence is inappropriate, just like in real life settings. Honestly you guys, as far as that goes, this server is far more respectful and restrained than any music video, wouldn't you agree? Most 'adult' joking and discussion is fairly discreet. I think the members here are quite mindful of who is online in chat in general and the kids see far more examples of excellent human co-operation and caring than any bad shit which may pass through.

Hope this helps to clarify. Please feel free to message me anytime, and thanks a million for all we have learned from this community so far.

P.S. Mesa is rare. Deal with it or pay yer gold and stake a claim. ;-)

Wow this is a lot to talk about! Well first off, I'm fine with either way for the reset of the mine world, now or later, but I would like to know when it would happen. However I would really like to have a canyon biome in the resource world.
For the next topic, I like the idea of a creative world, it would allow me to be able to test out building designs and why looks good with what so I can go out and get the appropriate materials later in the main world :) so do what you think is necessary Knas :)
On the third topic, I agree that the server needs a little more staff to make sure things are running smoothly, and me personally being part of the business before with being a guide I would love to give it a shot again, because i love helping everyone here. but I understand why I wouldn't be able to, we can talk on that on a private matter Mr. Knas (;
As for advertising, I will gladly help in the advertising of our server, I like seeing new faces, because we all know that I like to show and tell xD I'd sure appericate if there was more traffic through Elysium :) I bet army would like that too. Haha. So I will gladly help out in any way I can. I'll keep on voting to make sure that I get that jackpot (;
To address yevn, Ido agree with having another home set, 3 like we did I'm seregon or 4 like we had in Tekkitopia. I think it would allow people to get where they needed to be easier, like the nether, mine, and between spots in main.
And for girrraffe I agree with, having a protection in place at the spawn of the mine world. I have some pretty horrible stories about spawn too. Haha.
And lastly, but not least. TwinnieMom, I agree with. I think the chat is fairly clean, but when the kiddos are on, I do act more appropriate. For there are some conversations on this server which may be a little much for their young eyes.

Other than everything else. I love this server and I am forever loyal to it. I'm glad I'm here and I. Staying :) you all have to deal with me... Forever. <3

That's a whole lot of input, thank you!

Does that mean one server will always be down? Or will it have a regular reset pattern?
I think you're misunderstanding quite a bit.
All of this would work like now on your end, with access to the worlds via commands and/or portals (e.g. /warp mine/nether portals) and nothing would really change for you.
While on my side the load would be much better distributed due to the way MC servers work and I'd be able to take down e.g. the resource "world" (server) for maintenance while all other worlds are up.
This also opens up for heavy customization per-world/server in terms of plugins.

On the matter of resets I notice they are messing with Runecraft portals.
I've noted the issues with RC portals and I will be disabling them until further updates, another home seems like a fair trade.

In the case of the creative world I think that idea would be fine along with the multiple smaller servers idea. As long as the creative world doesn't impact me via lag I am fine.
I agree, this won't be on the menu until I've clustered the server.
Regarding lag I'm certain a clustering would improve performance in comparison to the setup we're using now.
Not that we have any particular lag, power-wise, it's just that we basically can do so much more and use much less.

I'm all for resetting the resource world, and protecting the spawn point somehow would be my only request. Jumping over the creeper holes while trying to duck witch potions was a nightmare, skele snipers is a big enough headache to begin with.
We'll see about a reset, most people seem to either not care or rather see it being a scarce resource.
A scheduled reset in the future would probably be the way to go. :)

I'll get to working on a resource spawn, I've wanted one anyway.
I hope you're helping me with the prettying up bit, seeing as you're pretty and all! :*

A clean chat I'm all for, some conversations could be best spoken through IM or even the forum but well.
The topics are sometimes a tad controversial, but we all get carried away.
Even though we're "older" we all enjoy jokes regarding fecal fornication or someones sewer-spout, in moderation.
But as long as a good response is in place in case someone reacts I can't really frown upon it.

Now swearing on the other hand - that I have no intention of stopping nor limit.
Sure "this fucking creeper blew me the fuck up, fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck - also fuck" and similar would make anyone look stoopid in chat but neither would it take long for someone to reply just that - that they look stupid as fuck.
I enjoy my swearing vocabulary and I'll be throwing in some shit in between words every now and then nonetheless.
And I'm certain - and obviously, Twinnie has no issues with it.

I'd cringe if someone were to use such language directly towards the twins but then again - I don't think anyone's that stupid (that actually know of whom they are).
Swearing while speaking generally, fine by me.

In general, once again thank you for the all the input but mostly - thank you for the love and support!
Peace and love yaaaaaaaaaaa'll!

Hahaha what's funny about your note on language, Knas, is that you nailed the twinnie's response to it. They usually ignore it but when someone is showing a limited vocabulary they comment something like....wow, can't they come up with something more creative???

Thanks for all the info, I love the open discussion about the server and it is teaching me a lot about servers in general to be able to follow these posts.

I agree with more sethomes if the teleports need to go. Setting outposts is a good alternative for easy travel too, if you are willing to pay the price. :)

How about buying packages with in game currency to allow more homes or even /back or fancy name colors?
Also what about channels? The twins could hop on their town channel and leave the general to the stupid folk.

Also again, what's the deal with town spawns for non-residents? That would cure the RC transport problems.

I was on this server where they didn't have any teleports whatsoever! Crazy, I know.
Having to resort to more creative ideas (like using the Nether), I think is more enjoyable than typing in commands to move around. 3 homes, or even 2 seems a bit excessive. But that's just my opinion :>

Of course I will help! ;) My main motivation for a mine world reset is establishing a safe zone incase there is server lag immediately after teleporting, getting killed by something you can't actually see yet is upsetting.

I forgot to add in my support for a Creative World, not having to quit to go into single player to test build something would be amazing. <3

I also understand that the mesa biomes are supposed to be scarce, but spreading something scare over a server is a little bit of a nightmare. That's my two cents on that matter, I don't care one way or the other if you choose a mine world seed that specifically includes the biome or not.

I'm the only one that would like a "sooner than later" mine world reset, with clustered servers?
For all the rest... i agree with girraffe...
just... cause!
